Laona Restaurant is a hidden gem in Paphos’s old town. The eatery is run by Chris alongside his son in law Andreas and has been serving home cooked Cypriot food since 1986.
A sure sign of the quality of the food is the fact the restaurant is frequented amongst locals and visitors alike and since it was established it has been increasingly popular amongst local residents. In more recent years that popularity has even become evident online with the restaurant gaining popularity on review site Trip Advisor.
The reason for this aforementioned popularity becomes evident once you sample the food, which yo can choose to order from the menu, or why not go for the meze which involves choosing dishes from the daily specials board.
Highlights include the freshly baked local bread and village salad, stuffed vegetables, meat slow cooked - so tender that it melts in the mouth. Laona often offers famous Cypriot favourites such as Stifado, Moussaka and Keftedhes.
The good news is that you can enjoy this honest Cypriot food and a refreshing drink and it won’t break the bank. The evening meze has a set price of €15 per person (not including drinks).
The Laona Restaurant enjoys a prime loacation in Paphos Town just a stone’s throw away from Paphos Market on a side street just off Makarios Avenue (the towns traditional shopping street).
